American Indian Health and Family Services of Detroit offers a free (valued at $275) [note: I find it really odd that the prevention of someone's death is "valued" as "FREE"/"$275"; life is priceless.] suicide prevention training workshop on March 23rd and 24th, 8:15-6:30PM in Ann Arbor.

Last year I called the suicide prevention hotline and found out it was ridiculously busy. Fortunately I got the police to take care of things, but I've experienced a few later instances where I was the only person with the opportunity to intervene and did so seat-of-the-pants. This workshop offers a preferable alternative to seat-of-the-pants intervention, but even the support of a dedicated and skillful individual is no substitute for an active, compassionate and loving community.
